Wojciech Jerzy Has. “Lalka” (The Doll)

The curator of the exhibition, Dr Rafał Syska, and the exhibition space designer, Prof. Tomasz Wójcik, have created an evocative, artistic narrative about the film and its director. Lalka (The Doll, 1968) is the largest and most Warsaw-centric production in Has’s oeuvre, featuring unforgettable performances by Mariusz Dmochowski, Beata Tyszkiewicz and Tadeusz Fijewski.

From 11 September to 31 October 2025, the Kordegarda Gallery of the National Centre for Culture will host a unique exhibition entitled “Lalka” (The Doll). It is a multimedia story about the spectacular film adaptation of Bolesław Prus’s masterpiece. The exhibition is part of the celebrations of the Year of Wojciech Jerzy Has, announced by the Senate of the Republic of Poland. It was created in cooperation with the National Film Centre in Łódź on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of one of the most outstanding creators of world cinema.
