From March 3 to 27 with the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute, we invite you to a photo exhibition presenting the artistic achievements of Tadeusz Łomnicki.

Another exhibition project of the National Center for Culture and the Theater Institute presents the figure of the king of the Polish stage of the second half of the 20th century – Tadeusz Łomnicki. The 30th anniversary of his death, which passed on February 22, is a pretext for this interesting meeting and a reminder of the artistic achievements of Łomnicki.- The brilliant actor was a master not only for his students but also an inspiration for stage and film coworkers, including outstanding directors, such as Erwin Axer, Konrad Swinarski, Roman Polański, and Andrzej Wajda. The unfulfilled playwright and total artist said goodbye to temporality at the Nowy Theater in Poznań, which has been named after Tadeusz Łomnicki for ten years. The last words he spoke are a question of the tragic Shakespearean hero – King Lear: 'Then there's life in't. Nay, if you get it, you shall get it with running. Sa, sa, sa, sa.' He completely subordinated his intense life to creative work. For nearly half a century on stage and in front of the camera, he provided us with unforgettable emotions – comments prof. Rafał Wiśniewski, director of the National Center for Culture.-In the history of Polish theater, Tadeusz Łomnicki took a place on the Olympus itself, the greatness of his art – well, elusive – remains a point of reference for successive generations of actors. We hope that this play will also be remembered by those viewers who admired Łomnicki on stage. Those who have not had a chance to encounter his artistry will learn about the existence of a unique artist – says Elżbieta Wrotnowska-Gmyz, director of the Theater Institute.Łomnicki collaborated with the most important directors of post-war Polish theater, primarily Erwin Axer (25 years together in the team of the Teatr Współczesny), but also with Adam Hanuszkiewicz, Konrad Swinarski, Andrzej Wajda, Kazimierz Kutz, Roman Polański, Kazimierz Dejmek and Antoni Libera. The exhibition consists of 52 portrait photographs presenting selected outstanding theatrical creations of Tadeusz Łomnicki.
